NAME: Peter Quill
CANON: Guardians of the Galaxy (Marvel Cinematic Universe)
CANON POINT: Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 (Post Ending)
AGE: 39 - Feb. 4th, 1980.
BACKGROUND: Peter's Profile.
PERSONALITY: Peter Quill; A natural born fighter, leader and sarcastic son of a bitch. Since Peter was a child, he'd been known to get into trouble and cause mischief. First meeting Peter Peter, he was merely a child with a brand new shiner bestowed upon him after picking a fight with some bullies at his school defending who had been hurting helpless animals. Having never known his father, Peter was very close to his mother and fiercely protective, with her death leaving an emotional scar that would follow him for the rest of his waking days. The memory of his mother is something he holds more sacred than anything besides else, aside from the Sony Walkman bestowed upon by her. This him by her. It is evidently clear that the Walkman means the world to him when him. When he is captured by the Nova Corps and taken to The Klyn, a guard having seized seizes his property, proceeding to listen to 'Blue Swede's - Hooked on a Feelin'. The anger and frustration can be felt in his voice when he confronts the guard in question, almost begging for his Walkman to be returned when he tells him to put it in storage with the rest of his belongings. When escaping, he makes certain that he gets it back.
Before his time as a guardian, Peter Quill spent his childhood raised by the Ravagers; A group of vile and ruthless criminals and thugs running a muck throughout the far reaches of the galaxy. He was taught to steal, shoot or kill what he needed to survive and ask questions later, having little to no remorse for those he wronged. It is unknown whether Korath the Pursuer's party of Sakaaran minions were killed when he stole the Orb from its resting place on Morag but he had little regard for their well being having used a plasma sphere against them to escape.
With that being said, things began to change once he aligning himself with his guardian companions, his world perspective beginning to change. started to alter. He valued peoples lives and even went out of his way to actively save his friends, first made clear as Peter dove into deep space to save Gamora from her grim fate; Knowing fate, knowing all too well he was sacrificing himself to save her. On top of this, Peter broke free of Ego's influence on his home world after Yondu reminded him that his arrow was not controlled by his mind, but his heart. His burning desire to protect those close to him unlocked his celestial powers, aiding in the defeat against his biological father and the destruction of his home planet, watching as his father dissipated into dust within in his arms.
It is clear that Peter has an attitude problem, his problem. His sarcastic sense of humor tending tends to get him into trouble more often than not. Between his constant bickering with Rocket and arguments with Gamora, you could peg Peter as a real asshole a lot of the time, even going so far as to call himself one! With that being said, he can show signs of humility when necessary, with a flare of sarcasm in the mix. This is shown when he presents the inter dimensional batteries to Ayesha; Ayesha, High Priestess of the Sovereign. She begins to flirt with him at first, with the conversation turning heated as the subject changed changes to that of his genetic make up. Instead of letting his pride get the best of him, Peter stayed humble despite the urge to tell her to shove it where the sun doesn't shine.
Having a silver tongue often got him out of sticky situations, a natural, charismatic charm about him. Even when he fails at negotiations, Peter somehow manages to use his mindless dribble to elude his sub doers and achieve success, may it be unorthodox. Sometimes all it took was a dance off to distract his opponents, other times an old Earth reference that many did not understand. Having never returned to Earth since that faithful day of his abduction, Peter's outdated slang may confuse some people, Gamora often being the target. It was one of the little nuisances that made Peter well....Peter.
Despite his naive demeanor at times, Peter has shown to be quite resourceful in a pinch. Using his ingenuity and skill set to his advantage, Star Lord knows when to pick a fight or when to run. Quick to think on his feet feet, he adapts to the situation at hand and reacts accordingly for the majority of the time when he doesn't let his pride get the best of him. Pride was indeed one of his major personal flaws, getting the best of him on multiple occasions and causing grief for his companions. For example, trying to escape the Sovereign fleet after Rocket stole inter dimensional batteries, Peter and Rocket argued over whom was the better pilot, fighting for control of the ship and ultimately putting the lives of their companions at risk over a stupid fight for dominance.
He can be seen as reckless at times, having little concern for his own welling. well being. Some would call it bravery bravery, while others stupidity, however, one thing is for certain- that Peter Quill is not a coward. Living his life on the edge, Peter has shown time and time again that he is willing to sacrifice himself to protect those around him, a trait of a selfless leader worth following. With his ragtag group of miscreant friends ranging from war criminals, bounty hunters and assassins assassins, it is hard to believe some times that Peter is the figurehead holding the Guardians together.
With that being said, Peter shows many qualities that a leader needs to succeed, most of all his unwillingness to give up when things look bleak. Taking hold of the Infinity Stone when released to the elements, Peter knew the risks he was taking as he sacrificed himself for the good of Xander and it's people. Unknown whether his plan would succeed or not, he took the chance for the sake of his friends and that courage alone proves Peter has what it takes to uphold their loyalty, aiding in his quest to protect the galaxy from whatever horrors are put in front of them.
POWERS/ABILITIES: Once upon a time Peter was half human, half Celestial having the capabilities to create what Ego referred to as 'The Light'; An energy created within the palm of his hands used to create life. However after the destruction of Ego's home world Peter's Celestial powers were null and void, a mere human with no greater strengths than the rest of his kind. With that being said, Peter has a variety of skills and traits that are as follow.
Marksmanship: Peter has shown that he is well versed in firearms of all kinds with a high degree of efficiency.
Combat Skills: Although his regenerative capabilities have receded with his Celestial heritage, Peter has shown to be quick on his feet when it comes to hand-to-hand combat.
Pilot: Peter will tell you time and time again if asked whom the greatest pilot in the galaxy is and the answer will always be the same without hesitation. He is a fiercely confident fighter pilot, his reflexes immaculate whilst in combat and or dodging inanimate objects (E.G. Quantum Asteroid fields).
Slight of hand/Thievery: Having grown up under a Ravager's wing he was taught to steal first and ask questions later. Taking up the alias 'Star Lord' he made a name for himself as an Outlaw who stole what he needed to survive. His quick digits make short work of even the most complex locks, sticky fingers good for distraction and thievery.
INVENTORY: Quad Blasters: Directional energy weapons with dual functionality, individual triggers for both his index and middle fingers. The top barrel emits a lethal fiery blast upon contact whilst the lower produces an electric current to immobilize his enemies.
Starlord Helmet: Peter's helmet has a great many uses, HUD display, internal communications and the capability of breathing in deep space.
Jet Boot Attachments: Jet attachments that allow Peter to fly any which way on both a planet's surface and freely through space, though only allowing limited flight time, hovering through the air for several minutes.
Zune: Gifted by Kraglin after Yondu's untimely demise on Ego's planet, the Zune replaces his Sony Walkman destroyed by his dickhead 'father'.
MOONBLESSING: Cordis - Lion. No identifying marks other than a majestic tail at first. Upon exalted transformation any and all should beware his pelvic sorcery, hypnotizing his victims with his wicked dance moves.
